Summer days in Limousin are generally warm and occasionally rather hot. Because the Limousin is on the edge of the Massif Central, it gets just enough rain to keep the fields and forests lush and green.
Summer 2005 saw a long hot summer stretching from late May until the end of September.
The following year temperatures reached the mid thirties centigrade during June and July with a cooler and less settled August. September 2006 returned to pleasant, warm, daytime temperatures of 26 degrees or higher.
In 2007 we had more rainfall than usual but Summer was followed by a gloriously sunny Autumn and many days of cloud free skies. Temperatures in the sunshine were very pleasant.
November and December 2007 were cold and crisp with lots of sunshine.
2008 started well. February in particular brought glorious weather with day after day of cloudless blue skies. It even reached 45 degress in the sunshine, not bad for Winter!
March, April and May this year were wet months but June brought sunshine and more balmy evenings than we saw throughout the entire Summer of 2007.
July has been g;orious; hot and sunny with teperatures up in the 30's centigrade. As we go into August the grass is beginning to burn and some trees are beginning to suffer from drought - we do need some rain now to keep the landscape green.
