Getting Here

However you travel here, a car will be essential if you are to make the most of your holiday.

Limoges is easily accessible by road, rail and air.

Car hire is available from the airport and various care hire companies in Limoges.

Ryanair has flights to Limoges from Stanstead, Liverpool and East Midlands. Flybe operates services between Manchester, Southampton and Limoges. Air France also flies from Paris to Limoges. From Scotland there are Ryanair flights from Glasgow Prestwick to Paris Beauvais with a bus connection to Paris or Easyjet flights from Ediburgh to Charles de Gaule Airport. Allow a minimum of 2 to 3 hours travel time from the airports if you plan to travel from Paris to Limoges by train.

The train service from Paris to Limoges is fast and reliable. Eurostar arrives in Gare du Nord. Trains for Limoges leave from Gare Austerlitz in the south east of the city. A direct route between Limoges, Benedictins railway station, and Charles de Gaule airport was introduced earlier this year.

The ferry ports are about a nine hour drive away but the roads are excellent. Unless you wish to spend time in Paris, you should avoid the city. We would recommend a route south via Rouen.

If you drive a hire a car from Bellegarde Airport, take the D2000 to Junction 28 of the A20. Although slightly longer, this route avoids built up areas and several roundabouts. Whichever route you choose, follow directions (blue signs) for the A20, then Toulouse.

DIRECTIONS FOR EVERYONE TRAVELLING TO CHASSAGNAS BY CAR ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Drive south on the A20 past Limoges following the signs for Toulouse. Leave the A20 at Junction 42 and follow the signs for St Germain Les Belles. Once through the town the main road swings round a sharp bend to the left. At this point leave the main road and drive straight onto the D16. Follow the signs for St Vite Sur Briance. After approximately 3.5 kilometres turn right onto the D31. (The turn off is also signposted 'Mont Gargan'). Pass through St Vite and drive on to La Croisille sur Briance. When you arrive at the village square, turn right onto the D43 ( the road that goes between La Croisillon Bar/Tabac and the Pharmacy). Follow the signs for la Porcherie, taking care to follow the road as it bends left on leaving the village.
Continue along this road for approximately 5kms (3.5 miles) The road eventually climbs up through some woods. Keep travelling straight on. Do not follow the road as it bends right towards La Porcherie. Chassagnas village is at the top of the hill. Our gite is on the left hand side of the road, approximately 250 metres past the large building on the right (a former schoolhouse). You should recognise it from the pictures on the details page. This map may help you with your journey.
